I wanted to send you a note sooner than later.  I just went to your site and looked at your 2008 portfolio again, which I love.  I’ll go back and take a look at the new work soon, but I didn’t want to wait to say thank you for reminding me how much I like the shapes that you create.

 I find your new work quite interesting. What first came to mind were Jenny Holzer’s 2005-2006 Redaction series paintings. At one point she projected her pieces on the sides of buildings. Your gallery letters (acceptance/rejection) are very pertinent and needed (I had trouble reading them). It would be fun to receive one. Once when I was unemployed and received rejection letters galore, I often thought of exibiting them. I could see your figurative mixed media series (#22) encompass an entire room, ceiling and floor. It would be wild to enter. I can’t wait to see more.

Also I’m remixing fake or imaginary exhibition postcards… I just finished up my friend Kadar Brock at Paula Cooper which looks good enough I guess… I’m trying to figure the Nicole Klagsbrun font right now which is going to be rather tough.

We regret to inform you that the Showcase winners have been selected to go before our gallery panel of judges and your entry was not part of the winning group.

Our first Juried Showcase competition received over 800 requests for entry. Of those, approximately 540 were selected for enrollment. You were part of that group and you helped make this a terrific beginning to our series.  Thank you!

The selection process was based on a review of each artist’s work and profile by the ArtSlant Curatorial Team, as well as votes, with the heaviest emphsis being placed on the art itself.

It was a very difficult decision-making process.  We wish each artist could have received an award. The quality and commitment of our competing artists was outstanding.

Our next Juried Showcase competition will open soon and you can enter it for no charge.  Each new round will feature a new set of distinguished judges, as well as a different mix of competitors.  Of course, you can enter a different work if you wish. Please watch for our announcements.

After the past year of talking and planning, Collegeartonline.com launched March 1, 2009 as a website devoted to showcasing the artwork of college artists. de Sarthe and Rosepink, wanted to form a business that matched buyers with original artwork at an affordable price.
